Join IREM Northern Nevada/Tahoe for a luncheon that is both somber and essential:   active assailant preparedness. This interactive training presentation will equip you with response techniques for emergencies involving shooters. We welcome our guest speaker, Heriberto “Eddie” Pinon, University Policy Officer 2 with the University Police Department, who will deliver information, resources, and insights to help you prepare for, and respond to, an active shooter incident.

  1. Identify possible assailants behaviors
  2. How attacks generally occur
  3. How to develop emergency plans (including furniture arrangement in public spaces)
  4. Actions that can be taken during an incident
  5. Empowerment to recognize and report suspicious behavior

Meet the Speaker:

Hello, I am Heriberto "Eddie" Pinon. I am originally from Pahrump, Nevada and in 2011, I decided to move up here to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. In my time here in Reno, I have earned two master's degrees, worked in student housing and in academic advising. I made the jump to law enforcement at the University in the summer of 2021 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I am currently on the department's Event Protection Detail and also work as the training coordinator. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions: [email protected]
