Join IREM Northern Nevada/Tahoe for a luncheon that is both somber and essential: active assailant preparedness. This interactive training presentation will equip you with response techniques for emergencies involving shooters. We welcome our guest speaker, Heriberto “Eddie” Pinon, University Policy Officer 2 with the University Police Department, who will deliver information, resources, and insights to help you prepare for, and respond to, an active shooter incident.
- Identify possible assailants behaviors
- How attacks generally occur
- How to develop emergency plans (including furniture arrangement in public spaces)
- Actions that can be taken during an incident
- Empowerment to recognize and report suspicious behavior
Meet the Speaker:
Hello, I am Heriberto "Eddie" Pinon. I am originally from Pahrump, Nevada and in 2011, I decided to move up here to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. In my time here in Reno, I have earned two master's degrees, worked in student housing and in academic advising. I made the jump to law enforcement at the University in the summer of 2021 and have enjoyed every minute of it.
